Calling All Book Lovers!

I've been an avid reader since a young age, so what better way to signify that than to make a blog about my reviews and favorite books! As you can see from my shelf on here, I love a wide variety of genres, and I'm very excited to share all of this with you :)

A Truly Great Read!

The Deadly Sister - Eliot Schrefer

I feel this book deserved even more than 5 stars in my opinion. It was so greatly written, that it was a novel I could hardly put down long enough to have a real life outside of Abby and Maya's world. I haven't been that way while reading for a long time. It was so realistic and unpredictable. I would've never imagined that outcome at the conclusion of this novel. Such a great book, I highly recommend anybody who likes Young Adult novels to read this one!

Great read for those who enjoyed If I Stay!

Falling Into Place - Amy Zhang

I won this book in a giveaway from Epic Reads as an ARC, or advanced readers copy (If you like Young Adult books, I suggest checking them out!). Don't let the star rating I gave on this fool you, I really enjoyed this book, just some of the problems were multiple spelling errors which doesn't usually bother me if it's not so much, but there were more than a few. Another problem I had was the order in which she told the story, my opinion is, I think it would've been somewhat better to have put it in chronological order according to before Liz crashed. Which, I understand why she did to fit the story together, but the jumbled order just kind of confused me. Anyways, this is Amy's first novel and she's not even out of high school yet, wow! This book somewhat reminded me of If I Stay in some scenes, but what makes it different and unique is, Mia didn't have a choice when her accident happened, whereas Liz made sure she had her 'accident' as a form of suicide. I think Amy's message and plot with this book definitely came into light with this novel. You never know what is going on in the minds of others, especially those who are severely or even a little depressed and suicidal, until it's too late. Good job Amy!

Falling Into Place - Amy Zhang

I am currently reading this novel, that I won for free in a giveaway on Epic Reads(If any of you happen to like Young Adult books, go check them out!). Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang. This is Amy's first novel, and for a beginner she's pretty good! Some scenarios in it somewhat reminded me of If I Stay, except the difference in this novel is, Mia didn't have a choice when it came to her accident. Whereas, the main character in this novel, Liz, chose her 'accident' as an attempt at suicide. I'm almost finished with this book, and I'll be sure to give my review on it once I've completed it, so far it's a pretty good read!

Populatti - Jackie Nastri Bardenwerper

I received this as an ebook from NetGalley. I found this book very intriguing for many reasons. One reason being, it lets you see into the lives of the popular or 'elite' kids in school and the challenges they face on a daily basis. I personally did not know the struggles they faced since I was never a popular kid in high school, so that was interesting. Another reason is, it shows you how much friendship can truly mean with the right people, when you've been through the worst that you could possibly go through, who's still standing by your side, that is your true friends. It also gives you the lesson not to trust a guy, even if you've known him for a while, if he has a bad reputation, whether he's a player, or he dates girls, gets what he wants, then is done with them. This is truly a great read for anyone to enjoy, especially those who are going to school themselves.

All the Truth That's in Me - Julie Berry

This novel by Julie Berry was certainly interesting. I feel that the message she was giving to the readers was to find your voice, even when you feel as if you don't acquire one. She sent this message across very well through this novel, I really enjoy books like these where the main character triumphs over what would seem to others as a disability. The fact that she wrote the novel in fragments instead of chapters seemed to appeal to me as well, because you can't find many novels like that. The reason why I didn't give this novel a 5-star rating is simply because I felt the book should have been shorter than it's 274 pages. Just because it seemed to prolong the inevitable and would draw out some of the scenes farther than it should have gone. But in total, it was a good read and I enjoyed it.

Sway - Kat Spears

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this novel, courtesy of The Reading Room, and I was not disappointed in the least when I read it. At first I was quite iffy about the plot since I usually do not like these sort of novels, but after reading it, I grew to love and relate to it. I think we all could relate to Jesse in some ways, from finding love in the most unexpected of places, lying to get what we want in life, not caring about the consequences until later on when they come back to haunt us, and making friends in the unlikeliest of people. Kat Spears is a sensational writer, which she demonstrates in this first novel of hers, and I would recommend this to everyone who happens to love romantic novels. All in all, I strongly suggest you buy it when it hits the shelves on September 16th. I hope she receives huge amounts of love from readers for this novel like she so rightly deserves.

SPOILER ALERT!
Day 21 - Kass Morgan

I received this as an ebook from Little Brown Books For Young Readers via NetGalley. I'll start off by saying the fact that this book series hardly even follows the TV series was a big relief for me. I get tired of seeing books converted into TV shows and they follow it so closely, that it tends to get boring pretty fast. I love Kass Morgans' work, and this novel was no different. It had just the right amount of unpredictability and surprising scenes, that in my opinion, made it even better than The Hundred. The only thing I didn't quite agree with was the Earthborn capturing scene just because if any other person got captured, their first instinct would be to escape as soon as possible, which they had plenty of opportunity to, and that didn't happen. But overall, it's a great read, and I can't wait to see what else Kass has in store for this series. Long live Bellarke!
